Corrections Policy
Correct the record clearly, not quietly.
Accuracy is more important than preserving the appearance that we were right the first time. Material errors are corrected visibly and meaningful updates keep their history.
What receives a correction
- A wrong name, number, date, result or description of a material fact.
- A headline or summary that overstates the evidence.
- A missing qualification that changes the reasonable meaning of the story.
- A source conflict that was not represented accurately.
How the page changes
We preserve datePublished, change dateModified only when the substance changes, and add a readable note when a correction or important revision affects the public account. Minor spelling or formatting fixes do not refresh the story.
