Source Policy

The source must be able to know what it claims.

We prefer the original record, then strong independent reporting and qualified specialist sources. Search snippets, copied summaries and anonymous posts are leads—not verification.

Our source order

  • Primary and official records for what an authority measured, filed, decided or announced.
  • Accountable independent reporting for corroboration and facts outside a primary record.
  • Specialist publications and named experts within their demonstrated competence.
  • Secondary sites and social posts only for discovery unless the underlying evidence is found.

Official does not mean independently proven

A company announcement proves that the company made an announcement. It does not independently prove the company’s performance, safety, superiority or market impact. We attribute those claims and distinguish them from our own synthesis.

Links readers can inspect

Story pages separate source links from the article body, identify the publisher and source class, and link to the durable original page whenever possible.
